The Edo State Police Command has commenced an intensive rescue operation following the reported abduction of a male cattle dealer, along the Igarra-Auchi expressway.
On 7th July, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m., the Police received information that gunshots were being fired along the Igarra-Auchi Expressway near the Geo-Work Factory. Upon receipt of the distress call, the Command Swung into action and Police officers were immediately deployed to the scene. Preliminary investigation reveals that one Oga Peter, a cattle dealer from Ososo Community, was allegedly abducted by armed men reportedly dressed in military camouflage.
In view of the above, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, has since launched a manhunt for the k!dnappers and has deployed the anti-k!dnapping unit of the state headquarters, the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and the Drone Unit as reinforcements to lgarra to see to the safe rescue of the victim and the apprehension of the perpetrators in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, members of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) and hunters.
The CP has assured residents that we will do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice and asks members of the public with useful information to report to the nearest Police Station or call the Command numbers.
