The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, a women leader of the City Boys Movement, wanted over an alleged fraud case.
Politics Nigeria reports that the anti-graft agency made the announcement on Monday through an official notice shared on its social media platform.
The Commission said Tejuosho is being sought in connection with a case of “obtaining money by false pretence.”
The notice, which was signed by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, called on members of the public to assist with useful information that could lead to her arrest.
According to the statement, anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts is advised to contact any EFCC office across the country. The agency also urged Nigerians to report to the nearest police station or other security agencies. It added that tips can be shared through its official communication channels, including phone lines and email platforms.
The Commission did not provide full details of the alleged offence. However, it stressed that the declaration followed ongoing investigations into fraudulent activities linked to the suspect.
Tejuosho’s declaration has drawn attention due to her recent political role. She was recently appointed as the South-West Zonal Women Leader of the City Boys Movement. The group had announced her appointment in a statement, noting that she would oversee women-focused political activities in the region.
According to the Movement, her role includes coordinating grassroots mobilization, promoting civic engagement, and leading advocacy efforts among women in the South-West.
Her sudden appearance on the EFCC wanted list has now raised questions about the screening process within political support groups and the growing intersection between politics and financial crime investigations.
Efforts to reach officials of the City Boys Movement for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
