Savinho marked his Tottenham Hotspur debut with a goal as Roberto de Zerbi’s side recovered from their disappointing Premier League defeat by beating Charlton Athletic 5-1 in the Carabao Cup.
The Brazil international came off the bench in the 71st minute to a standing ovation after Spurs had already established a commanding lead over their Championship opponents.
Signed from Manchester City for an initial £75 million, Savio needed only 11 minutes to make his mark, cutting inside before finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

The winger continued to cause problems after his introduction and played a role in Tottenham’s fifth goal, scored by Ben Davies in the 85th minute.
Savio celebrated his first goal for the club by lifting a corner flag as Tottenham quickly put their 3-0 defeat by Brentford behind them.
Spurs had struggled to break Charlton down for much of the opening period, but Mikey Moore changed the game in the 41st minute with a powerful effort into the top corner.
Dominic Solanke doubled the advantage four minutes later, turning inside the box before finishing with his right foot.
Spurs set up Liverpool cup clash
Kevin Danso added Tottenham’s third in the 67th minute when he headed Mateus Fernandes’ free-kick into the net.
Fernandes was making his first start since completing his £85m move from West Ham, while De Zerbi made five changes from the side beaten by Brentford.
Charlton had created opportunities before Spurs opened the scoring, with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky denying Greg Docherty before Nathan Asiimwe headed narrowly wide.
The visitors eventually found a consolation through Lloyd Jones in the 87th minute, but Tottenham comfortably secured their place in the third round.
The result sets up a difficult next assignment in the competition, with Spurs drawn away to Liverpool.
