Dr Abdulmumuni Isah, the Chief Imam of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), has urged Muslim faithful to only vote for people in 2027 general elections who will promote peace, unity and move the country forward.
Isah said this in Nsukka on Wednesday in a remark during prayer to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He said every Nigerian should contribute to move the country forward by ensuring he/she voted for people who will promote peace, unity in the country.
“Ensure that you vote for a president, governor, national assembly and state assembly members who will ensure peace, unity and move the country forward,”he said.
The Chief Iman who is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Chemical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management in University of Nigeria Nsukka said Eid-el-Kabir celebrated over the world today by Muslims is in commemoration of obedient of Prophet Ibrahim to the total will of God.
“God directed Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son Ismali to him, Ibrahim obeyed God, it was when Ibrahim was about sacrificing his only son that God provided ram for him in replacement.
“This is why, the highpoint of Eid-el-Kabir is the sacrifice of ram, we should emulate Ibrahim, in his total submission and obedience to God at all time no matter the situation we find ourselves,”he said.
He said Eid-el-Kabir signifies sacrifice, love and kindness and urged Muslims to share whatever have for the celebration with their brothers, sisters and neighbours irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliations.
“We should remember that one day we will die and give account of our stewardship before Allah, we will be rewarded according to good or bad things we did while on earth,”he said.
