A teenage boy in Ekiti State has alleged that an agent of the All Progressives Congress (APC) promised him financial reward after voting in the ongoing governorship election, amid claims that the ruling party mobilised underage voters in support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
According to SaharaReporters, the APC, allegedly in collaboration with some parents, registered teenagers for voter cards with promises of monetary rewards in exchange for votes.
One teenage boy in Ekiti, whose name was withheld, claimed his mother instructed him to vote for Governor Oyebanji after the party allegedly promised money.

He said, “My mother asked me to vote for Oyebamiji our current governor.”
He also said, “They have promised us money after voting.”
When asked how much would be paid, he said he was unsure.
He was also unable to give details on the number of people allegedly involved in the mobilisation.
The allegation emerged as voting commenced across Ekiti State in a closely watched governorship election.
Security operatives and election officials were deployed across the state ahead of the exercise as political parties intensified last-minute mobilisation efforts.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier confirmed the distribution of sensitive election materials across the state ahead of the poll.
