Ekiti 2026: Tinubu congratulates Gov Oyebanji on re-election victory

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election in the just-concluded governorship election.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the people of Ekiti for conducting a peaceful and orderly poll.

Tinubu described Oyebanji’s re-election as a clear evidence of the trust reposed in him by the people of Ekiti.

The President also commended law enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order during the election.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain the same standard of professionalism as the nation prepares for the Osun governorship election in August and the general elections next year.

“Governor Oyebanji’s first term was marked by significant strides in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda.

“The renewed mandate is therefore a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance,” Onanuga said.

Tinubu urged the re-elected governor to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all Ekiti people along as he consolidates on his achievements in the next four years.

The President also commended the other candidates who contested the election for exercising their democratic rights, and called on them to now rally round Governor Oyebanji for the greater task of moving Ekiti forward.

President Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy and accelerate the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

He prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
