Voting has been concluded in some polling units in Ekiti State as residents elect the governor who will lead the state for the next four years.
Naijaonpoint understands that the exercise commenced at 8:30am on Saturday in many of the 2,445 polling units across the 16 local government areas of the state.
Voter turnout was impressive in some areas, while it was low in several other polling units. Fourteen political parties are participating in the governorship election.
Observers and reporters on the ground reported cases of alleged vote-buying in some polling units.
Ekiti has 1,059,360 registered voters, of whom 1,028,929 have collected their Permanent Voter Cards and are eligible to vote.
Results are expected to be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) presiding officers at polling units before collation at the ward and local government levels.
The final collation will take place at the INEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
