Nigeria’s Ella Onojuvwevwo has failed to qualify for the women’s 400m final at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest.
Onojuvwevwo competed in the opening rounds but could not secure a place in the championship race, bringing her campaign to an end.
Despite missing out on the final, the Nigerian quarter-miler enjoyed an encouraging season, breaking the 50-second barrier and gaining valuable experience against some of the world’s leading athletes.
Nigeria also suffered an early setback after failing to feature in the mixed 4x100m relay despite securing automatic qualification at the World Relays in Botswana.

The country was not included in the final start list for the event in Budapest and consequently did not compete in the mixed relay on the opening night.
TVC News earlier reported that Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan won silver in the women’s 100m hurdles final after clocking 12.34 seconds.
American Masai Russell claimed gold in 12.22 seconds, while Dutch hurdler Nadine Visser finished third in 12.39 seconds.
Team Nigeria will now shift its focus to the remaining events as the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships continue in Budapest.
