Enugu Government has announced a restriction of movement across the six local government areas and 102 electoral wards that make up the Northern Senatorial District of ahead of the senatorial by-election scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The government, in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, said the restriction would be in force from 12:00 am (midnight) to 6:00 pm to ensure the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the election.
According to the statement, only officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security personnel, accredited election observers, media practitioners, and other duly authorised election duty personnel will be permitted to move within the restricted period.
“The people and residents of the district are encouraged to exercise their civic responsibility peacefully and in accordance with electoral guidelines. Political parties, candidates, and their supporters are also urged to remain law-abiding during and after the exercise,” the statement added.
Security agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order.
The government commended residents for their cooperation and wished the Enugu North Senatorial District a peaceful and successful election.
