Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Osita Eze representing Oji- River Constituency in the state, has emerged winner of the All progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election held on Wednesday.

The exercise was generally peaceful in the 20 political wards of the local government Area.

Announcing the result of the election monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Oji River local government headquarters, the Returning Officer, stated: “In line with the power vested in me as the returning officer for the Oji- River state constituency of the Enugu State House of Assembly primary election of the APC in Enugu State, conducted today, 20th, May 2026, I hereby, certify that after counting and collation of votes, Hon. Osita Eze scored 11,921 votes.

According to him, having scored the highest number of lawful votes cast during the election “Hon. Eze is hereby, declared the winner, and duly returned elected as the All progressives Congress APC Candidate for the Oji- River state constituency of the Enugu state House of Assembly.

Addressing journalists at the end of the exercise, Hon. Eze said “I feel highly elated and happy, and also grateful to the good people of my constituency for believing in me.
.
“But in a special way, i want to thank our political leader, the governor of Enugu state, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who has created a robust peaceful and rancour free political environment in our dear state.
.
“You will agree with me that today we have a conducive political atmosphere in Enugu state courtesy of our amiable and pragmatic governor. He has changed the political narrative in the state.

“That is why we now go into elections seemlesly as one united big family. There is Nothing like friction or political feud in our fold. We now speak with one voice.
.
“So am deeply greatfull to the governor and people of my constituency for this show of love today.They did this because they believe in me and supports continuity in office.
.
“As politically conscious people, my constituent knows that continuity in office is the key, because it will enable elected political office holders seeking reelection to consolidate on the feat recorded during their previous outing.
.
“So, I want to reassure Ndi Oji River my people that am not going to take this trust for granted. I won’t disappoint them if elected into office for a second term by the Grace of God, come 2027.

Asked on how prepared he is to face political opponents from other parties in the general election, Hon. Eze expressed optimism of his relection, stressing that his track record and good works will speak for him when the time comes.

“With God on my side as well as massive support of my people, I have no doubt in my mind that victory will definitely be mine in the general election” the l

In a brief interview with newsmen, Chairman of Oji River Local Government Area, Hon. Greg AnyaEgbudike, said “I am so happy for the smooth conduct of this primary election today in our local government.

“What has happened today is a thing of joy, it shows oneness and togetherness. It also show that APC is an ideal political party. Today, we saw massive turn out of people in all the political wards, and at the end of the day they delivered over 11,000 votes to our Candidate, Hon. Osita Eze.

“Of course, this was made possible because they saw that our Candidate is very strong and popular”

“However, this feat is made possible because of oneness and unity in our Party, the APC, through the instrumentality of our great political leader, the governor of Enugu state, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah who has shown capacity in leadership and transformed the state political land scape.
