Ahead of the June 20, 2026 by-election and the 2027 general elections in Enugu North Senatorial Zone, a top contender and likely favoured candidate, Ikeje Asogwa, has unveiled his formidable, inclusive and experienced campaign council to lead his campaign.

Speaking at a meeting of selected leaders and stakeholders from Enugu North Senatorial Zone held at the country home of the Deputy Governor, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, in Ezimo, Udenu LGA, Asogwa, known as a man whose word is his bond, assured the people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone of quality representation, inclusiveness and even development if elected Senator.

He praised Enugu State Governor, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing good governance and democracy dividends to the people, urging the people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone to work assiduously to ensure victory for the party in the forthcoming general elections.

Asogwa also announced the inclusion and integration of the diligent organising team of the recently concluded Enugu North Mega Endorsement Rally into his campaign council, alongside some eminent political leaders of the zone who will serve as members.

The meeting, presided over by the Deputy Governor, Ifeanyi Ossai, provided an opportunity for sober reflection and introspection on the political events, dynamics and challenges of the 2023 elections, as well as discussions on the way forward ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his opening remarks, Ossai thanked the people immensely for their swift response to the meeting despite the short notice. He congratulated and commended them for the success of the Mega Endorsement Rally and urged them to speak freely and express their minds on the political issues affecting the zone and the way forward. He assured them that their grievances, suggestions and aspirations would be appropriately considered and adequately addressed.

Many stakeholders and leaders spoke wholeheartedly and selflessly on the prevailing political developments, challenges and the way forward ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that a reconciliation committee would be set up as quickly as possible to heal the wounds of the past and forge a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Present at the meeting were APC State Assembly candidates from the zone, some commissioners, local government chairmen, local government party chairmen, former political office holders, government appointees and other stakeholders.
