Enyimba International Football Club of Aba has appointed a sports journalist and Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Abia State Chapter, Bethel Kalu, as its new Media Officer.
The appointment was confirmed by the club management under the leadership of FIFA Ambassador and former Super Eagles striker, Nwankwo Kanu, on Tuesday as part of the ongoing reform in the club.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is reporting that David Orji served the club as the Media Officer for the 2025/2026 season.
Orji managed the club’s public relations, press releases, and official club communication for the Aba-based People’s Elephant.
The reform is aimed at repositioning the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions ahead of the new season.
Kalu is widely regarded within the Nigeria sports community as a seasoned journalist with extensive experience covering Enyimba and Nigeria football.
Over the years, he has built a reputation for his commitment to sports journalism and advocacy for improved access and welfare of journalists covering the NPFL.
Sources close to the club noted that bringing in an experienced sports journalist reflects the management’s determination to improve the club’s public image and bridge the communication gaps that have existed over the years.
The appointment is also part of the club’s restructuring process.
In recent weeks, changes have been made to key technical and administrative positions.
The changes were aimed at restoring stability and competitiveness following a challenging campaign and to reposition for the new season ahead.
