Peter Obi has cited his experience as former governor of Anambra State to argue that public service should be driven by integrity rather than personal benefits. Speaking during an interview With Chude, the Labour Party leader recalled how members of the State House of Assembly, including the Speaker, eventually became supportive of his administration after initially opposing him.

Reflecting on his time in office, Obi said his administration won the confidence of lawmakers because they saw the direction he was taking the state. According to him, the transformation in their relationship became evident as his tenure drew to a close.
