The family of 26-year-old physiotherapist Mary Habila, popularly known as Mara, has announced her burial arrangements following her tragic death.
Habila was found dead at the Ebonyi residence of Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi.
Authorities have maintained that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of her death.
Family Releases Burial Details
According to a funeral announcement released by her family, Mary Habila was born on September 18, 2000, and died on June 27, 2026.
The family said her funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Deeper Life Bible Church in Nok, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Relatives, friends, colleagues and sympathisers are expected to attend the service to pay their final respects to the late physiotherapist.
Death Remains Under Investigation
The circumstances surrounding Habila’s death have continued to attract public attention since it was confirmed that she died at Minister Umahi’s residence in Uburu, Ebonyi State.
Reports alleged that the physiotherapist was found naked when her body was removed from the residence, prompting widespread calls for a transparent investigation.
Police have insisted that an autopsy is necessary to establish the exact cause of death as investigations continue.
Umahi Denies Wrongdoing
Minister David Umahi has publicly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Habila’s death.
He stated that the deceased was a physiotherapist who had been seconded from the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences to the Federal Ministry of Works.
The minister also said he requested a comprehensive autopsy, insisting that investigators should be allowed to complete their work before conclusions are drawn.
Umahi has further threatened legal action against individuals he accused of spreading false information about the incident.
