The family of late Chief Edward Adetayo Adekoya, the Balogun of Ipara Remo in Ogun State, has paid glowing tribute to the revered community leader on the 21st anniversary of his passing.
Leading the remembrance, his son and journalist, Gbolahan Adetayo, described the late chief as a man of honour, integrity and wisdom whose legacy continues to inspire his children and the Ipara Remo community.
In an emotional tribute made available to journalists on Tuesday, Adetayo said the family has continued to miss their patriarch since his demise 21 years ago, noting that his absence remains deeply felt, particularly in moments when his fatherly guidance would have been invaluable.
“Today marks exactly 21 years since our father, Chief Edward Adetayo Adekoya, left this world. As his children, we have missed him so much, especially me. Though time has passed, the vacuum created by his departure can never truly be filled,” he said.
He noted that despite the pain of losing their father, the family remains grateful for the exemplary life he lived and the enduring values he instilled in his children.
According to him, the late Balogun of Ipara Remo was known for his commitment to truth, discipline, humility and selfless service, qualities that continue to serve as a guiding light for those he left behind.
The family also expressed appreciation for the lasting impact the late chief made during his lifetime, describing him as a respected traditional titleholder whose contributions to the development and unity of Ipara Remo would never be forgotten.
As part of the remembrance, prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul, while the family reaffirmed its commitment to preserving his legacy for future generations.
“Death may have taken him away from us physically, but his values, teachings and the memories we shared with him remain alive in our hearts. We pray that his gentle soul continues to rest in perfect peace,” the family stated.
Chief Edward Adetayo Adekoya is remembered by family members, friends and associates as a distinguished son of Ipara Remo whose life of service and leadership left an enduring mark on his community.
