FCT police arrest suspect, recover Toyota Hilux stolen from Abuja and taken to Kaduna

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command has apprehended a car theft suspect and recovered a Toyota Hilux stolen from the FCT and taken to Kaduna state.

According to the police, on June 20 at about 1:45 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Maitama Division, CSP Altine Daniel, received a distress call reporting the theft of a white Toyota Hilux, 2014 model, with Registration Number BWR 712 CV, from Wuse II area of the FCT. The DPO immediately led a team to the scene, where the complainant reported that the vehicle was parked at about 1:30 p.m. and was discovered missing about four minutes later, with an unknown person seen driving it away.

Acting swiftly, all police formations and deployments along entry and exit routes in the FCT were alerted to conduct stop-and-search operations with a mandate to arrest any attempt to exit the FCT with the stolen vehicle.

With the aid of digital tracking technology, the vehicle was traced and recovered at Kubacha, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the same day. One suspect was arrested in connection with the theft.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen, SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the command, said the suspect and the recovered vehicle are in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances and identify possible accomplices.
