The Federal Government has officially opened applications for the Young Women’s Leadership Conference 2026 (#YWLC26), a national initiative aimed at empowering young Nigerian women with leadership, career and entrepreneurial skills.
The conference is being organised by the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD). The event is expected to bring together young women from different backgrounds across Nigeria for mentorship, networking, leadership development and capacity building.
According to information released by the organisers, the Young Women’s Leadership Conference 2026 will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, by 8:00 AM in Abuja, FCT. Registration is currently open and interested applicants can apply through the official portal at ywlcng.com before the deadline.
The organisers stated that the programme is designed for Nigerian women between the ages of 18 and 35. It will particularly focus on entrepreneurs, students, graduates, young professionals and women interested in governance, advocacy, public affairs and social impact.
Participants will be selected through an application process aimed at ensuring diversity, commitment and leadership potential among attendees. Selected participants are expected to gain access to valuable learning opportunities, professional connections and discussions focused on personal growth, leadership and nation-building.
One of the major figures behind the initiative is Rinsola Abiola, the Director General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC). Abiola made history in August 2025 after becoming the first female Director General in the agency’s over 70-year history. Her appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was widely seen as part of the administration’s commitment to youth inclusion and gender representation in governance.
Under her leadership, CLTC has continued to push programmes focused on youth empowerment, leadership training and civic engagement across Nigeria.
The conference is also receiving support from several organisations including Eagles Foundation for Humanity, NDPHC, Sapphital, NASENI and NEXIM Bank.
Interested applicants are advised to complete their registration early as applications will close on May 11, 2026. Organisers also noted that only selected participants will be contacted after the application process.
