The Federal Government Technical College in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, remains quiet and largely empty as the dispute over the concession of Federal Government schools continues.
Our reporter, who visited the premises, found the school without normal academic activity, with students and staff absent and messages opposing privatisation written across the school gate.
The development follows industrial action by workers of Federal Government Colleges over concerns surrounding the concession of King’s College, Lagos.
While the Federal Government says the arrangement is aimed at improving the institution, workers fear it could set a precedent for other Federal Government schools.
For now, students remain away from their classrooms as stakeholders await a resolution to the dispute.
