Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has attended “coalition of the willing” meeting on Ukraine in Paris on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as the group reiterated its “unwavering support” for Ukraine and pledged to speed efforts to achieve a lasting peace.
According to a statement shared on the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s X account, Fidan represented Erdogan at the summit held in the French capital.
The meeting, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, brought together senior representatives from 37 countries.
“We remain determined to bring about a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of international law, including the United Nations Charter, that will preserve Ukraine’s and our security interests,” co-chairs of the informal group of 35 countries, the UK and France, said in a statement after the meeting.
Consensus on ceasefire
Building on the results of the G7 summit in Evian, France and of the NATO summit in Ankara, they reiterated support to Kiev.
