Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has warned that individuals found providing intelligence to insurgents will face the full weight of the law, as authorities move to strengthen security operations in communities affected by renewed attacks in Hong Local Government Area.
The Governor issued the warning through the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Garba Pella, who represented him at the handover of 40 motorcycles to security agencies in Hong.
Dr. Pella said the intervention is part of the state government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly in communities where difficult terrain has continued to limit the movement of security personnel.
He said the motorcycles would improve the mobility of security agencies and enhance their capacity to respond to threats posed by Boko Haram and other insurgent groups.

The Commissioner said intelligence available to security agencies indicated that some individuals were allegedly passing sensitive information to insurgents.
He therefore called on traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to support security agencies by providing credible information and reporting suspected informants.
Dr. Pella warned that anyone found deliberately assisting criminals with security information would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He said the state government would continue to provide logistical support to security agencies as part of efforts to contain insurgency and prevent affected communities from being cut off from government and economic activities.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over attacks in parts of Hong Local Government Area.
The Executive Chairman of Hong Local Government, Dr. Aliyu Sa’ad, said the security situation had become increasingly worrying, with more than five villages reportedly attacked within the last three to four weeks.
According to him, the attacks have resulted in deaths, abductions and the destruction of homes and other property.
Dr. Sa’ad said the motorcycles would give security personnel greater access to remote communities and difficult terrains where conventional vehicles may struggle to operate.
He disclosed that the local government had also provided roofing sheets, wood and financial assistance to residents whose houses were destroyed during the attacks.
The Chairman urged residents to cooperate with security agencies, stressing that community intelligence remains critical to preventing further attacks.
He also described the activities of informants as a serious threat to local security.
The Til Huba, Alheri Nyako, said the provision of the motorcycles would significantly strengthen security operations, particularly in areas where the terrain makes the movement of heavy security equipment difficult.
He said the intervention had boosted the morale of forest guards, hunters and other security personnel operating in the area.
On the alleged activities of informants, the traditional ruler said the traditional institution would work with security agencies to address the challenge.
He said district heads would be directed to engage village and ward heads in strengthening community-level efforts to identify and report individuals suspected of aiding insurgents.
For residents of Hong, the intervention comes at a time when renewed attacks have placed additional pressure on communities already dealing with the effects of insecurity.
The state government says the deployment of the motorcycles is aimed not only at improving security response but also at ensuring that vulnerable communities remain accessible and protected.
The development underscores the growing role of community cooperation, intelligence gathering and rapid security response in Nigeria’s broader fight against insurgency in the Northeast.
