Akwasi Serebour Boateng, a former management member of Asante Kotoko, has constructed an elaborate, house-style grave for his late mother, Obaapanin Elizabeth Addai, also known as Ama Attaa Kakra, at Asante Mampong Penteng Nwase in the Ashanti Region.
According to accounts of the tribute, the structure is designed as a fully furnished small house rather than a conventional grave, reportedly featuring modern amenities including an air conditioner, ceiling fan, television with DStv connection, a stocked refrigerator, a chandelier, and a statue of the late Obaapanin as a lasting memorial.
Images from the site show a decorated entrance adorned with balloons and a large banner marking her “Glorious Home Call” at age 78, alongside portraits of her.
The specific date of Obaapanin Elizabeth Addai’s passing, the cost of the memorial structure, and further details about the family have not been independently verified.
The tribute reflects a broader tradition in parts of Ghana, particularly among the Akan, of elaborate funeral rites and memorials as expressions of honour, status, and enduring respect for departed family matriarchs and patriarchs.
