Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has inaugurated a new General Hospital, an upgraded Neuropsychiatric Hospital with a 100-bed Rehabilitation Centre and a rehabilitated Nigerian Air Force Base runway in Port Harcourt.
Fubara disclosed this in a statement via his official X handle on Friday, August 28, following the inauguration of the projects on Thursday.
The governor said the projects were part of his administration’s commitment to improving the wellbeing, security and prosperity of residents of the state.
According to him, the new healthcare facilities, located in Rumuigbo, would bring quality healthcare closer to residents while strengthening the state’s response to mental health and substance abuse challenges.

“In Rumuigbo, we inaugurated a new General Hospital and an upgraded Neuropsychiatric Hospital with a 100-bed Rehabilitation Centre,” Fubara said.
He added that the projects would “bring quality healthcare closer to our people and strengthen our response to mental health and substance abuse challenges.”
The governor also said his administration inaugurated the rehabilitated Nigerian Air Force Base runway in Port Harcourt as part of efforts to strengthen its partnership with the Armed Forces.
Fubara said the project reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the security of Rivers State and the protection of Nigeria’s critical economic assets.
He expressed appreciation to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, for inaugurating the healthcare projects and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, DFS, for inaugurating the rehabilitated runway.
“Healthcare gives our people hope; security gives that hope, room to thrive,” the governor said.
He added: “This is the Rivers State we are building: healthy, secure and ready for sustainable progress.”
