Goalless draw between England, Ghana delays World Cup knockout stage qualification

England and Ghana both edged closer to a place in the last 32 of the World Cup after a 0-0 draw in Foxborough on Tuesday.

Thomas Tuchel’s side top Group L with four points, above Ghana on goal difference, going into their final game against Panama, where a win would likely secure first place and a last-32 tie in Atlanta on July 1.

It was the first match at this World Cup in which neither team managed a shot on target in the first half, with Ghana content to sit back and give possession to their opponents while working hard to close down space around the box.
