The management of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, has appealed to the public to help identify and locate the family members of an unidentified man whose body has remained unclaimed in the hospital’s mortuary several weeks after his d£ath.
In a statement issued on Friday by the hospital’s Public Affairs Unit, the deceased was described as a man believed to be approximately 35 years old who was involved in a road traffic @ccid£nt in the Government Reserved Area of Gombe.
According to the hospital, the victim was brought to the facility by an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he was reportedly struck by a hit-and-run driver.
He was admitted on Friday, May 15, 2026, but p@ss£d away two days later on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
The hospital said the deceased was approximately 155.4 centimetres in height and had distinctive horizontal tribal marks on both upper cheeks, details that could help in identifying him.
The deceased was an unidentified male believed to be approximately 35 years old who had been involved in a pedestrian road traffic @ccid£nt at the Government Reserved Area of Gombe State.
He was brought to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, by an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.
He was admitted to the facility on Friday, May 15, 2026, and unfortunately p@ss£d away on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Despite efforts made thus far, no family member has stepped forward to claim the body.
The hospital has urged anyone who recognises the description or possesses information about the deceased or his relatives to contact the appropriate authorities at the hospital to enable identification and the necessary arrangements.
The appeal reflects growing concerns over the rising number of unidentified @ccid£nt victims whose bodies remain unclaimed in mortuaries, owing to challenges in locating their families.
