Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has accused some politicians of hypocrisy, saying those that as soon as praised former President Muhammadu Buhari whereas he was in energy at the moment are amongst his harshest critics.
Speaking on Saturday, October 25, on the 2nd Raymond Dokpesi Diamond Lecture organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Abuja, Sule mirrored on what he referred to as the hazards of sycophancy in politics.

“By being a governor, I’ve seen what sycophancy can do. I’ve seen folks really sit within the presence of President (Muhammadu) Buhari to inform him, ‘Oh, you are the best ever. Nobody can do this better.’
“But the minute Buhari left government, they started saying, ‘Oh, he was one of the worst presidents we had ever seen.’
“These are the same people but different moments. That is what sycophancy is all about,” PUNCH quoted Sule to have mentioned.
Buhari, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, had earlier served as army head of state within the Eighties.
