Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has presented letters of appointment to 4,900 permanent and pensionable teachers and formally engaged 3,688 Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) to improve educational quality across all levels in the state.
Governor Yusuf announced this during the official flag-off ceremony for the distribution of appointment letters to the newly recruited teachers and the 3,688 Abba Gida-Gida BESDA Cohort V facilitators at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Tuesday.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf said, “Today is much more than a recruitment exercise. It is about the hopes and aspirations of millions of children whose dreams depend on the quality of education they receive.”

The governor explained that the recruitment would strengthen the foundation and future prosperity of education in the state, ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to learn, dream, and fulfil their God-given potential.
He noted that for a government that prioritised educational quality, it needs qualified, competent, and committed teachers to succeed.
Governor Yusuf revealed that between May 2023 and June 2026, his administration recruited over 13,600 qualified teachers into basic and secondary schools to raise educational standards.
He added that within the period, thousands of schools were supplied with instructional materials, teachers received training, pupils were provided with free uniforms, and 15 boarding schools were reopened.

Governor Yusuf commended the Federal Government for its support through the Ministry of Education under the leadership of Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, as well as the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Hajiya Aisha Garba.
He also appreciated the ongoing cooperation from donor agencies and private organisations in supporting the present administration’s declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector.
In his remarks, Minister Alausa expressed satisfaction with the progress and achievements recorded during the three-year leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
