“He disappeared 30 minutes before the church service” — lady recounts unusual scene at wedding venue

A wedding ceremony was briefly thrown into confusion after a groom disappeared about 30 minutes before his church service, leaving guests anxious and the bride waiting at the altar.

The unusual incident happened during a Saturday wedding ceremony in Nigeria, according to a woman who later shared the experience online.

The lady explained that as the church filled up and the bride completed her preparations, the groom was nowhere to be found.

His friends searched the church premises while whispers spread among guests, many of whom assumed the groom had developed cold feet.

Groom’s sudden disappearance causes panic

Recounting the moment, the lady said, “At first, everyone thought he was just nervous and stepped out to get some air. Thirty minutes passed, then forty-five minutes, and nobody could find him. You could see the tension everywhere, especially on the bride’s face.”

She added that the situation nearly escalated into panic before the groom was eventually located behind the church building.

Jollof rice discovery shocks guests

According to her, “After almost an hour, they found him sitting quietly on a plastic chair behind the church, eating jollof rice like nothing was wrong. He said he hadn’t eaten all day because of stress and only wanted to take two spoons.”

The lady noted that the groom became so engrossed in the meal that he completely lost track of time. “The funniest part was that he entered the church with stew stains on his white inner shirt. His bride noticed it during the vows and almost burst out laughing,” she said.

Similar light-hearted wedding mishaps have surfaced online in recent years, including a 2024 incident where a groom reportedly fainted during vows due to hunger.

Despite the delay, the ceremony went on successfully, leaving guests with a story they are unlikely to forget.
