‘He Ordered That The Gate Be Locked’ – Bwala Reveals What Atiku Did To Tinubu After Swearing-In

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala has revealed that Tinubu made attempts to reconnect with former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, after the 2023 presidential election.

NewsWatch Nigeria reports that Bwala disclosed this during an interview shared by Symfoni TV, in which he spoke about events that occurred shortly after Tinubu became president.

According to him, Tinubu reached out to Atiku through some emissaries after taking the oath of office. Bwala explained that the move was part of the president’s efforts to establish communication with the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, despite the tension that followed the election.

The presidential aide said he had firsthand knowledge of the situation because he was still working closely with Atiku at the time. He stated that the men sent by Tinubu reportedly went to Atiku’s residence but were unable to gain access.

Bwala said Atiku instructed that the gate should not be opened for the visitors when they arrived at the residence. He added that the incident showed Tinubu had already made efforts to reach out after assuming office.

When President Tinubu took the oath at the time I was with Atiku. I can tell you this because I was closer to Atiku, men from President Tinubu approached Atiku. Emissaries went to meet Atiku, when they came to the gate of Atiku, he ordered that the gate should not be opened to them. So Tinubu has made the effort”, he said.
