Heartbreaking news from Umuguma community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State. A young man was allegedly beaten to death during a cult initiation by members of the DNKI (Vikings) group. His body was left in the bush while his family searched for him for many months.
The sad incident happened some months ago, but details and arrests came to light in the past few days. Reports say the young man went for the initiation hoping to gain power, protection, and brotherhood. Instead, things turned deadly during the process. His body was abandoned in the bush, and no one helped him. His family looked everywhere without success until the recent breakthrough. Watch video here
Imo State Police arrested some suspected cult members following intelligence. The suspects are said to have confessed to the act. The decomposed body of the young man was later recovered from the bush where the initiation took place. This happened around mid-July 2026, with videos and updates shared widely on Monday and Tuesday, 13th and 14th July 2026.
Cultism remains a big problem in parts of Imo State and other areas in the South East. Many young boys lose their lives or bright futures because of it.
