A Nigerian lady has sparked buzz online after calling out her elder sister for allegedly sending their mother out of her house following a disagreement over their mother’s living arrangements.
The family dispute reportedly began after their mother started comparing the sisters’ husbands whenever she visited the younger daughter.
‘She Can’t Care for Her the Way I Do’
In a social media post, the younger daughter explained that their mother lives with her elder sister and her husband.
She claimed that whenever their mother visited her and saw how wealthy she and her husband were, she would return to her elder sister’s home and complain that they could not care for her in the same way.
“My sister and my mom have been having issues because of me. Each time my mom visits me and see how wealthy my husband and I are, she will go back to my sister’s house because she’s staying with her and her husband and quarrel with her that she can’t care for her the way I do,” she wrote.
The situation reportedly became tense, with the elder sister allegedly telling their mother that if she preferred her younger daughter’s care, she should remain at her home.
‘I Can’t Accommodate Our Mom Either’
The younger daughter explained that she could not simply take their mother in because she and her husband had agreed before marriage that they would not allow anyone to live with them permanently.
“My husband and I agreed that when we marry we will not let anyone live with us, except the person will just visit and go back,” she stated.
She added that her husband would not be willing to change the arrangement.
The situation reportedly escalated when the elder sister allegedly sent their mother out of the house.
‘I Asked Her to Go to Her Cousin’s Place’
After being sent out, their mother reportedly called her younger daughter for help.
By the time the call came, the younger daughter’s husband was already home, leaving her unable to accommodate their mother.
“I couldn’t do anything. I asked her to go to her cousin’s place till morning,” she wrote.
The following morning, the cousin allegedly contacted her and explained that she could not continue accommodating their mother because she did not have enough space.
The younger daughter then pleaded with her elder sister to forgive their mother and take her back.
She appealed to her sister as the eldest daughter, arguing that she had a responsibility to care for their mother even when others could not.
‘My Mom Constantly Compared Him and My Husband’
After her sister reportedly ended the call, she reached out to her brother-in-law in another attempt to resolve the situation.
He allegedly explained that he had no personal issue with his mother-in-law but was uncomfortable with her constant comparisons between him and his wife’s younger sister’s husband.
“He said he has no issues but it’s my mom that constantly compared him and my husband,” she wrote.
She claimed she tried to explain that parents sometimes compare their children’s situations, particularly when one child appears to be doing better financially.
However, her brother-in-law reportedly told her that he could not tolerate such comparisons in his presence and asked her to caution her mother.
‘How Can a Daughter Be So Heartless?’
The younger daughter expressed frustration over the situation, describing her sister’s decision as unfair to their mother.
She also blamed what she described as jealousy for the family disagreement and maintained that the issue could have been handled with more understanding.
She revealed that she was making arrangements for their mother to move into one of her husband’s apartments located close to the mother’s cousin.
“How can a daughter be so heartless to her own mother?” she asked.
