Controversial cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has stirred fresh debate after declaring that he possesses what can guarantee the governorship victory of the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, ahead of the 2027 Oyo State election.
In a video circulating on X, Ayodele openly challenged Adelabu, insisting that the minister would lose the election even if backed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), unless he complies with what he described as as divine instructions.
“I have what you need to become governor, come and take it. Even if APC puts you there, you will lose. What you need for your election victory is with me. Na God talk am for me. Let anybody call it anything. I am just challenging you that what you need to become governor is in my pocket. If you win, there is no God,” the cleric said in the video.
The latest claim adds another layer to the already strained relationship between both men, following a previous fallout that led to formal petitions and public accusations.
In October 2025, Adelabu accused Ayodele of attempting to extort him under the guise spiritual support for his governorship ambition. In a petition to the Department of State Services (DSS), the minister alleged that the cleric demanded about N150 million and several items, including 24 APC flags and 1,000 musical instruments—specifically saxophones or trumpets—for prayers.

According to the petition, Ayodele also instructed Adelabu to engage in specific spiritual exercises, claiming the directives were divinely inspired and necessary for electoral success. The minister, however, rejected the demands, maintaining that his ambition was rooted in public service rather than what he described as “spiritual manipulation.”
The situation escalated after Ayodele allegedly issued critical prophecies against Adelabu when the requests were not met, prompting the minister to call for an investigation into the cleric’s activities by both the DSS and the police in Oyo State.
Ayodele, however, denied the allegations, insisting that he neither blackmailed nor extorted the minister.
