Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed he is in “excellent physical condition” after undergoing treatment for an early-stage prostate cancer.
He revealed he delayed the release of his medical report to avoid fuelling propaganda during the ongoing war.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Friday, Netanyahu disclosed that a “very early stage” malignant tumour was detected during routine medical monitoring but was successfully treated without complications.
“Thank God, I am healthy. I am in excellent physical condition,” he said, adding that the condition had been completely resolved following targeted treatment.
The Israeli leader explained that he intentionally postponed publication of his annual medical report by two months, citing concerns that the timing could be exploited by Iran.
“I requested to delay its publication so that it would not be released at the height of the war, in order not to allow the Iranian terror regime to spread even more false propaganda against Israel,” he stated.
According to Netanyahu, the issue was discovered as part of follow-up checks after a previous surgery for an enlarged benign prostate about 18 months ago. Doctors later identified a small spot measuring less than one centimetre, which was confirmed to be malignant but had not spread.
“They told me this is very common among men my age,” he said, noting that he was given the option of either continued monitoring or immediate treatment.
“You already know me. When I’m given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately-both on the national level and on the personal level.”
He said he opted for treatment, which involved a series of brief procedures that allowed him to continue working uninterrupted.
“I went to a few short treatments, read a book, and continued working. The spot disappeared completely,” Netanyahu said.
The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation to medical teams at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem for their care, while urging citizens to prioritise their health.
“Take care of your health. Get checked, and follow the doctors’ instructions,” he advised.
Netanyahu concluded his message with a note of solidarity for injured Israelis, saying he was praying for their recovery and wishing citizens peace ahead of the Sabbath.
“On the eve of Shabbat, I pray for the peace of our wounded in body and soul… Shabbat Shalom,” he added.
