A Nigerian man has stirred widespread reactions online after sharing strong views on transparency in marriage, insisting that couples should have unrestricted access to each other’s personal information, including passwords.
The man, whose video has since gone viral across social media platforms, argued that openness should be a non-negotiable standard for anyone considering marriage.
His remarks have sparked debate, with many Nigerians expressing mixed opinions about privacy and trust in relationships.
Call for Total Transparency in Marriage
In the video, the speaker advised individuals to test their partners’ level of openness before committing to marriage. According to him, refusal to share passwords should be seen as a red flag.
“If you want to marry someone, ask them, can I know your password to everything that you have? If they say no, leave them,” he said.
He maintained that a relationship without full transparency does not meet the true definition of marriage. He questioned the logic of physical intimacy without emotional and financial openness.
“Marriage where there is no transparency is normal. So you can see my nakedness, but you are not open with me. So what are we doing? That’s not marriage now,” he added.
Comparing Physical and Financial Openness
The man further stressed the contrast between physical vulnerability and financial secrecy in relationships.
He argued that if partners can be physically exposed to one another, there should be no reason to hide personal or financial details.
“Do you know what it means for you to be naked before somebody? The way you came to this earth, somebody can see your nakedness, they can’t see your account balance,” he said.
He criticised what he described as misleading relationship ideologies, suggesting that many people adopt beliefs that do not align with spiritual teachings.
Religious Perspective on Openness
Referencing the Bible, the speaker linked his argument to Christian teachings, citing Romans 8:32 to support his stance on total access and generosity in relationships.
“We lie to ourselves and we take ideologies from people that know nothing about the word of God. Is there anything that God has that you don’t have access?” he questioned.
“Look at, is there Romans 8 verse 32? If he did not spare his son, how can he not by him give us all things? It’s there and that’s the typology of marriage,” he concluded.
