Popular Nigerian clergyman, Pastor Chukwuemeka Odumeje, has advised Nigerians to stay away from stealing, warning that this is not the best time to engage in criminal activities.
Speaking during a church service, the preacher urged anyone involved in theft to stop immediately, stressing that the consequences of being caught could be far more severe than expected.
“If you steal, please I beg you in the name of God, this is not the best time to do it. It’s better you stop now because if you’re caught, the kind of punishment you’ll receive these days will be severe,” he said.
Pastor Odumeje further claimed that the economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration has left many Nigerians frustrated, making it dangerous for anyone caught stealing.
According to the cleric, suspected thieves now risk facing not only legal consequences but also the anger of members of the public.
“Many Nigerians are taking out their frustration over the hardship under President Tinubu’s government on anyone caught stealing because you will suffer in vain,” he added.
His remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his warning, while others debated his comments about the country’s economic hardship.
