According to a recent video by FeelRightNews TV on Monday, July 13, 2026, prominent Yoruba traditional ruler HSM Aare Oba Dr. Amb. Adeyemi, Oba Ede ati Asa Ile Yoruba, has voiced strong objections to Governor Seyi Makinde’s handling of the recent student abduction crisis.
The monarch criticized the directive that security teams should refrain from actively pursuing the kidnapped students and instead wait for official instructions from the government, arguing that such delays are inappropriate when immediate action is required in security situations. Watch video here
During his address, Adeyemi drew a comparison to fugitive Sunday Igboho, who reportedly spent ₦1 million per day on fuel while evading authorities, pointing out the apparent disparity between private resources used for survival and the government’s cautious approach to rescue efforts.
Addressing rampant public speculation that ransom payments were made to secure the students’ release, the traditional ruler posed a rhetorical question to Nigerians, urging them to imagine how they would feel if their own children were among those held captive.
The monarch also shifted focus to the armed forces, expressing surprise that the public has not shown greater appreciation for the soldiers who put their lives on the line during the operation.
He commended the military’s recent success in Borno State, where troops neutralized 120 bandits, crediting this achievement to the advanced weaponry supplied by the Chief of Army Staff. Adeyemi stressed that these victories reflect growing military effectiveness and deserve widespread recognition and commendation from the nation.
