Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has decorated 30 newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, comprising 13 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs).
The decoration ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, marking the formal elevation of the officers following their recent promotions.
The development was disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, on Tuesday, July 21.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, the IGP described their elevation as a recognition of years of dedicated and meritorious service, urging them to see their new ranks as a call to greater responsibility.

Disu acknowledged the personal sacrifices many police officers make in the course of their careers, noting that several had missed birthdays, family celebrations and other important milestones while serving the nation.
He also commended their families for the support and sacrifices they had made throughout the officers’ years of service.
” IGP Disu congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing their elevation as a call to step into higher responsibility within the Force. He acknowledged that, despite the demanding and often personally costly nature of police work, the officers had risen steadily through the ranks, recalling the birthdays, family celebrations, and other personal milestones many of them had missed in the line of duty. The IGP extended similar recognition to the families of the officers, commending their sacrifices and thanking them for standing by their loved ones throughout the course of their careers,” the statement reads.
Charging the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them, the police chief urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity and compassion in the discharge of their duties.
He stressed that leaders who prioritise the welfare of officers under their command would earn their trust, loyalty and commitment.
The IGP also urged the newly decorated officers to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through their conduct, mentor younger officers and provide exemplary leadership.
He further advised them to carry their new ranks with humility while assuring them of the Force’s continued commitment to their welfare.
Among the newly decorated Assistant Inspectors-General of Police are Obono Nnaghe Itam, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Edobor, Isah Danladi Nda, Akaninyene Ifebem Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Bello Rashid Afegbua, Hycenth Azuka Edozie, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.
The newly promoted Commissioners of Police decorated at the ceremony include Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle Aremu Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Rita Oyintare Oki, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, Nurudeen A. Sabo, Tijani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C. Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Etaifo, Taiwo A. Adedeji, Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura and Zainab Audu Pembi.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Oyekachukwu Ibezim; the Deputy National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Zainab Ibrahim; the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, who represented the state governor; Engr. Ken Ekwemigo, representing the Governor of Anambra State; His Royal Highness Clement Ikolo; the Controller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche; and Brigadier-General K.C. Uwa.
