As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its primaries ahead of the June 20 Enugu North Senatorial by-election, one name continues to dominate political conversations across the zone — Ikeje Asogwa, popularly known as IDE.

Among the array of aspirants seeking the party’s ticket, Ikeje stands out as the most prominent, widely accepted, and arguably the man to beat. His growing popularity is not built on noise, desperation, or political intrigue, but on years of loyalty, service, patience, philanthropy, and leadership credibility.

Beyond being qualified, prepared, and ready for the task ahead, Ikeje has emerged as the new poster boy of Enugu North politics and leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He is “Ikejeogu bu ndi mmuo” and IDE for many reasons. His story reflects the belief that there is truly power in a name. Over the years, the meaning and symbolism attached to his name have consistently manifested in his life, public service, and political journey.

Since his emergence in public service and politics, Ikeje has never been associated with conspiracy, desperation for power, or political manipulation. Rather, he has remained a man who believes strongly in divine timing and destiny, trusting that no earthly power can challenge the supreme authority of God.

Ahead of the 2015 general elections in Enugu State, Ikeje was entrusted with the responsibility of briefly holding the position of PDP State Chairman. At that critical period, it was the turn of Enugu North Senatorial Zone to produce the governor of the state, and many believed he was eminently qualified for the position.

However, unlike many politicians who would have used such an opportunity to pursue personal ambition, Ikeje chose the path of sacrifice, stability, and party unity. He focused on strengthening and stabilizing the party with transparency, sincerity, and commitment. His leadership contributed immensely to the party’s overwhelming victory and the smooth transition of power in Enugu State in 2015.

Since then, Ikeje has remained dedicated, loyal, and patient, always waiting to be called upon to serve. He is not known for intrigues, sabotage, or bitterness — traits that have unfortunately become common among desperate and insincere politicians.
Indeed, Ikeje is IDE for a reason.

He embodies philanthropy at every available opportunity. Generosity flows naturally in him, yet it is guided by wisdom, introspection, and accountability. He believes that assistance should positively transform lives, and he often ensures that beneficiaries make productive use of the opportunities and support extended to them.

Being around Ikeje offers a practical lesson in altruism, discipline, humility, and hard work. These qualities have earned him enormous goodwill, widespread acceptance, grassroots support, and growing solidarity from people across Enugu North Senatorial Zone ahead of the APC primaries and the by-election.

As the political atmosphere intensifies, many party faithful and stakeholders believe that Ikeje Asogwa represents not just experience and capacity, but also stability, maturity, and a refreshing style of leadership anchored on service and humanity.

For many observers, the journey to the APC ticket, and perhaps the Senate seat itself, may ultimately revolve around one man: Ikeje Asogwa, the IDE OF IHEAKA.
