The developments come amid a sharp escalation in attacks by illegal Israeli settlers and Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank since October 2023, which have killed more than 1,150 Palestinians and wounded thousands, according to official Palestinian data.
In a landmark opinion in July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
