“I’m Done Dating Broke Men” – Mercy Eke Explains Why She Won’t Date Below Her Income Level

Former Big Brother Naija winner Mercy Eke has revealed that she will no longer date a man who earns less than she does, saying past relationship experiences influenced her decision.

Speaking on Toke Moments with Toke Makinwa, the reality star said she had previously supported men she dated financially but is no longer interested in building a relationship based on someone’s future potential.

According to Mercy, she has given money to former partners more than once simply because she had the means to help them.

“Yeah, not once, not twice.”

Asked if she would date a man who earns less than her, she responded:

“No, in fact, no, I won’t.”

Explaining her reason, Mercy said:

“Because they don’t have, and I have. So… they don’t have, and I have, and I will give, I will share.”

She added that while she once believed in supporting a partner with potential, she has moved on from that mindset.

“I’ve been there, done that. I don’t want prospect again.”

However, Mercy clarified that she would stand by a financially successful man who later experienced setbacks.

“If he was a good man, I’ll be there and I will support him. But if you don’t chop your money before…”
