I’m Sorry If I’ve Wronged You – Desmond Elliott Begs Gbajabiamila For Forgiveness

Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliott has asked the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, for forgiveness if he has offended him during his time in office.

NewsWatch Nigeria reports that Elliot made the appeal after collecting his nomination form to contest again for the Surulere Constituency 1 seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Nollywood actor said he respects Gbajabiamila as a senior political figure and described him as a leader who guides others. He added that if there had been any wrong he committed in the course of his duties, he is asking for another chance to continue serving and to improve delivery of projects to his constituency.

He said, “Our leader is a compassionate leader. A leader of thought. We are children. Children sometimes err. If I have erred in any way, my leader, I am sorry. Give me another chance, and let’s move on, and let’s bring more dividends of democracy to the people.

“Although he has not said that I have erred, I’m just saying that if I have, then this is the situation.”

He also reacted to claims that some groups, including the Surulere Accountability Forum, rejected his ambition. He dismissed the claims and said he does not know the group, describing the reports as political talk meant to create confusion. He insisted that his engagement with his constituency remains direct and ongoing.

The lawmaker defended his plan to return for another term, saying experience in the legislature helps members secure more benefits for their people.

He explained that lawmakers who stay longer tend to understand procedures better and are able to bring more projects, appointments, and opportunities to their areas compared to new members who are still learning the system.
