India asks nationals to avoid travel to Iran amid escalating US-Iran war, says ‘those there to…’

India has advised its citizens to avoid travelling to Iran for the time being, citing the rapidly deteriorating security environment amid the intensifying conflict involving the United States and Iran.

In a fresh advisory issued on Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Tehran said the situation in Iran has become increasingly volatile over the past few days. Considering the prevailing conditions, Indian nationals planning to visit the country have been asked to postpone their travel until further notice.

The embassy also recommended that Indians currently residing in Iran assess their personal safety and, if possible, make arrangements to leave the country temporarily through commercial flights that remain operational.

Embassy issues safety guidelines

For Indian citizens who choose to stay in Iran, the embassy has urged them to remain extremely cautious and stay informed about the latest developments. It advised people to avoid locations witnessing military activity, especially regions along Iran’s southern coastline, where tensions have been particularly high.

The mission also asked Indian nationals to follow all instructions issued by Iranian authorities and maintain close contact with official sources for verified updates.

Additionally, the embassy requested Indian citizens who have not yet registered their presence in Iran to do so without delay. It also encouraged them to regularly check the embassy’s official website and social media channels for any new advisories or emergency information.

Fighting intensifies across the region

India’s updated travel advisory comes as hostilities between the United States and Iran continue to escalate, prompting several countries to reassess travel guidance for their citizens.

The latest developments follow another round of US military strikes on Iranian targets. According to US Central Command, the operations were aimed at coastal surveillance systems and air defence installations to safeguard commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and respond to recent attacks on American forces.

The strikes came after Washington said two US service members were killed in an Iranian attack in Jordan.

Iran responds with fresh attacks

In response, Iran launched drones and missiles targeting US military facilities in Kuwait. Bahrain reported intercepting incoming Iranian projectiles, while Jordan said its armed forces shot down three missiles after air raid sirens were activated across parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military stated that missiles fired from Iran were detected heading towards the Jordanian city of Aqaba.

Regional tensions continue to rise

The renewed violence follows the collapse of a temporary ceasefire, with both Washington and Tehran intensifying military operations.

The conflict has also affected movement through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. The disruption has raised concerns about global energy supplies and broader regional stability.

Iran’s Health Ministry has reported that recent US strikes have resulted in dozens of deaths. On the American side, officials confirmed that the deaths of the two service members in Jordan have increased the total number of US military personnel killed since the conflict began to 16.

Amid the continuing unrest, India has once again urged its citizens to remain alert, avoid non-essential travel to Iran and closely follow official advisories until the security situation improves.
