India to Pakistan travel cost explained: How much you’ll spend and easiest way to get there

India and Pakistan are neighbouring countries, but travelling between them is not as simple as it sounds. Direct flights are rare or mostly suspended, so travellers often have to take longer routes through other countries, making the journey more expensive and time-consuming.

Flight cost from India to Pakistan

If you choose to travel by air, a one-way ticket usually costs between Rs 23,000 and Rs 27,000, depending on the destination, such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad or Sialkot. A round-trip can cost around Rs 55,000 to Rs 70,000, mainly because most flights are not direct and involve layovers.

Cheapest way to travel – By road

For budget travel, the land route is the most affordable option. You can travel to Amritsar and cross the Wagah Border to enter Lahore. Travel within India to Amritsar may cost Rs 1000-Rs 3000 and local travel in Pakistan may cost Rs 500- Rs 2000. Overall, the journey can be completed in Rs 3000- Rs 6000.

Documents you must have

Before planning your trip, make sure you have a valid passport and visa. In some cases, vaccination proof may also be required. It’s important to carry foreign currency like US dollars or Pakistani rupees, as Indian currency is not accepted there.

Important travel tips

Since travel rules between the two countries can change quickly, always check the latest updates before planning your journey. Proper documentation and preparation can help avoid issues at the border or during transit.

Visa services currently suspended

At present, travel between India and Pakistan is largely restricted. Following recent tensions, both countries have suspended visa services for each other’s citizens, making regular travel currently not possible.
