The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on eligible voters who have relocated from their previous residences to transfer their voter registration to their new locations before the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends.
The commission made the appeal in a statement posted on its official X account on Thursday, advising voters against registering afresh if they had already been captured in the voter register.
According to INEC, voters can process their transfer either by visiting any designated CVR registration centre or through its online portal.
“Have you moved to a new location? Your vote should move with you. Don’t let your old polling location decide your future. Apply for a Transfer of Registration and vote where you now live either by visiting any CVR registration centre or using the online portal via: cvr.inecnigeria.org,” the commission stated.
INEC stressed that Nigerians who have changed their place of residence should only apply for a transfer of registration rather than begin a fresh registration process.
“Don’t register again. Simply apply for a Transfer of Registration. CVR closes: Sunday, 26 July 2026. Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (including weekends),” the commission added.
The electoral body reiterated that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise will end on Sunday, July 26, 2026, urging eligible voters to complete their registration transfer before the deadline.
