The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it has concluded the second phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise, recording a total of 3,748,704 completed registrations as preparations intensify for the 2027 General Election.
The Commission stated this in its weekly update released on Friday, where it said the figure reflects a combination of online pre-registrations and in-person completions at designated centres across the country.
A breakdown of the data shows that 2,259,288 Nigerians completed their registration through INECās online pre-registration portal, while 1,489,416 finalised their registration physically at various centres nationwide.
INEC, however, noted that the figures remain provisional and subject to further verification.
With the registration phase now concluded, the Commission has shifted focus to the next critical stage, Claims and Objections, aimed at sanitising the voter register.
INEC disclosed that the display of the Register of Voters will be conducted nationwide from April 29 to May 5, 2026.
The exercise will allow registrants to verify their personal details and raise objections where necessary, including flagging duplicate entries, deceased persons, and non-citizens.
The Commission urged all Nigerians who participated in the second phase of the CVR to take advantage of the window to confirm the accuracy of their information and contribute to the integrity of the register.
INEC explained that the CVR exercise is being implemented in phases, adding that the first phase ran from August 18 to December 10, 2025, while the just-concluded second phase commenced on January 5 and ended on April 17, 2026.
It said the date for the third phase will be announced in due course.
While reaffirming its commitment, the Commission stressed that maintaining a clean and credible voter register remains fundamental to the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections in Nigeria.
