The Commander, Infantry Corps, Major General Godwin Mutkut, has commended the operational readiness and administrative performance of the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin City, during an operational assessment visit to the formation.
Mutkut, who visited the Brigade Headquarters on Saturday, commissioned a number of completed infrastructural projects and praised the Brigade’s proactive security posture, saying its efforts have contributed significantly to maintaining peace and security across Edo State.
Addressing officers and soldiers, the Infantry Corps Commander conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and commended the troops for their loyalty, discipline, resilience and professionalism.
He urged personnel to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities while upholding the core values and ethics of the Nigerian Army.
The senior officer also stressed the importance of strong family values, noting that a stable home environment plays a vital role in enhancing the performance and wellbeing of military personnel.
As part of the visit, Mutkut commissioned several projects executed by the Brigade, including a remodelled conference room, a new operations room, a renovated sick bay, an ultra-modern fire point, a quarter guard, and a newly constructed Brigade mascot and fountain.
He described the projects as strategic investments that would improve operational efficiency, troop welfare and the overall working environment.
Mutkut also commended the Commander, 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, for his leadership and commitment to translating the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy into tangible infrastructural development.
Earlier, Balogun welcomed the Infantry Corps Commander and thanked him for the operational assessment visit, describing it as a morale booster for officers and soldiers of the Brigade.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Edo State while maintaining high standards of professionalism, discipline and operational excellence.
According to a statement signed by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, the visit also featured a tour of facilities within the Nigerian Army Cantonment, Ekehuan, Benin City, an interactive session with officers and soldiers, as well as the presentation of souvenirs.
