Indian influencer Rachna Gurjar has reportedly become the victim of a major burglary after thieves broke into her family home and stole jewelry, cash, and other valuables.
According to Gurjar, the incident happened late at night while she and her family were asleep at their residence in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district. Several unidentified men allegedly cut through the property’s fencing, entered the home, and locked the family inside their room before carrying out the theft.
Gurjar said she and her husband became aware that something was wrong at around 4 a.m. when they discovered their room door was locked from the outside. Unable to open it, they contacted nearby relatives for help.
After being freed, the couple reportedly found signs of a burglary throughout the house. Jewelry, cash, and other valuables had been taken, while storage areas had been searched and ransacked.
“They locked us inside the room and then committed the burglary. They took away gold, silver jewellery, cash, and a carton of energy drink, worth around Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh ($8,000 to $10,500). They also changed the angles of the CCTV cameras, possibly with a lathi (bamboo cane), so that their faces were not recorded,” Gurjar said.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the suspects. Investigators are also reportedly examining whether Gurjar’s social media activity may have contributed to her becoming a target.
The influencer, who has nearly 100,000 followers online, is known for sharing videos featuring jewelry, cash, and glimpses of her lifestyle. Authorities believe such content may have attracted the attention of criminals.
The case has sparked debate on social media, with many users discussing the risks of publicly displaying wealth and details of one’s home online. Meanwhile, police continue their search for the masked suspects captured on surveillance footage.
