Iran’s latest counterproposal to a US peace plan has called for compensation from the United States and stressed Tehran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported.
The report said the proposal also demands an end to sanctions and the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad.
Tehran rejected the US plan because it would have required submission to President Donald Trump’s “excessive demands,” the report said.
Iran’s response also emphasised the “fundamental rights of the Iranian nation.”
Trump said on Sunday on his Truth Social platform that he had reviewed Iran’s latest response and described it as “totally unacceptable.”
Drone downed
The Iranian army also said early on Monday that its air defence systems downed an “enemy reconnaissance drone” in the country’s southwestern region.
The army’s public relations office said the drone was intercepted and destroyed by Iran’s integrated air defence network, according to the official IRNA news agency.
