What Is Biological Intelligence and How Does It Work?

Researchers say these neurons can connect with each other, form networks, and gradually learn from external stimuli in a way similar to biological brains.

Iranian officials claim their laboratory has mastered techniques to keep nerve cells alive outside the human body and allow them to develop into functioning neural networks. They believe these living processors could eventually perform complex tasks while consuming far less energy than today’s digital computers.

Iranian researchers argue that biological processors may offer two major advantages over traditional computing systems.

First, they claim these processors could perform highly complex calculations much faster than conventional computers through parallel processing. Second, they say biological computing may consume significantly less electricity than today’s high-performance processors, potentially making future data centres far more energy efficient.

The announcement has also triggered debate because such technology could have applications beyond healthcare and research. Experts believe future biological computing systems may contribute to robotics, advanced automation, drug discovery, and next-generation artificial intelligence. However, scientists also stress that ethical guidelines and strict regulation will be essential before any widespread deployment.
