The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa branch, has given the Jigawa State Government a two-week ultimatum to fully implement the 2025 ASUU-FGN agreement and pay outstanding arrears from January 2026 to date.
The union says it will embark on industrial action from 15th September 2026 if the government fails to meet its demands.
This is contained in a resolution of the ASUU-SLUK Special Congress Meeting held on Tuesday, 1st September 2026, at the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences Lecture Theatre 2 of the university.
The resolution is jointly signed by the union’s Chairman, Comrade Idris Muhammad Chiromawa, and Secretary, Comrade Salisu Yunusa.

The union is demanding the full implementation of the 2025 ASUU-FGN agreement, including the payment of accrued arrears from January 2026.
It also wants the state government to exempt the university from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Management System, IPPMS, saying the system does not adequately reflect the peculiarities of the university.
The lecturers are further asking the government to remit all outstanding third-party deductions and reconsider its decision to remove 0.7 per cent from the statutory two per cent Local Government contribution to the university.
They also want the government to provide sustainable funding for the other state-owned university.
Other demands include the payment of outstanding responsibility allowances, annual increments owed to members since 2023, promotion arrears since 2024, and the release of the approved 2024/2025 Earned Academic Allowance, EAA.
With the two-week deadline now running, the union says failure by the Jigawa State Government to address the issues will trigger industrial action from 15th September 2026.
