JUST IN: Kano Assembly Confirms Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor

The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State following his successful screening.

The confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of a report by an ad hoc committee during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

Presenting the report, the committee chairman and Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, said Garo’s nomination came after the resignation of former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

He explained that the screening was conducted in line with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the Assembly to approve a nominee in the event of a vacancy.

According to the committee, Garo underwent a thorough screening process, including an extensive question-and-answer session covering his educational background, professional experience, understanding of governance, and vision for the state. His credentials were also carefully verified.

The panel noted that he demonstrated a strong grasp of the responsibilities of the office and presented a clear plan to support the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Based on its findings, the committee recommended his confirmation, which was unanimously approved by the House.

Following the adoption of the report, Speaker Falgore put the nomination to a vote, and lawmakers gave their full backing, formally confirming Garo as Deputy Governor.

The Assembly also reiterated its commitment to working with the executive arm to promote good governance, accountability, and overall development in the state.
